I need to sell some fired brass and I'm not sure how to price it. It's actually going to be used as set dressing on a movie set (Red Dawn), but I was saving it to sell to reloaders.

What's a good price per thousand rounds of once fired brass for the following calibers. I told them I'd charge the same as if I was selling it to reload.

9mm per thousand

5.56 per thousand

30 - 06 per 500

5.56 per 500

Also, what would you charge for a mixed bucket of brass in a 3 gallon bucket? Let's say mainly 9mm with some rifle. It may be easier to sell it that way.

Thanks.

Marekt

9mm per thousand
Uncleaned mixed range brass $15
If it's nice and clean and pretty $30

5.56 per thousand
$75+ Depends on what it is.

30 - 06 per 500
No idea

5.56 per 500
1/2 of what a thousand would cost

Ok, I'm not going to have time to sort it or count it out by the piece.

I'm selling a "Bucket of brass." The bucket is a Kitty Litter plastic rectangular bucket that is 12" tall (deep) x 11" wide x 9" wide. It should be full when I'm done.

It'll be a mix of pistol caliber (9mm, .45, .38) and rifle calibers (5.56, 7.62, 30 06, .30 carbine)

Any guesses what I should charge for the mixed lot for set dressing?

The current scrap rate for range brass is around $1.25-$1.50 per pound, because it's a mixed metal scrap (steel/nickel/brass in the primers, brass in the cases)...

"so your selling it to the guys making the new Red dawn? "

If I have enough, yes. He needs it right away and I can come up with one full bucket. If he needs more then that he'll have to scrounge around more. He's going to call me back and I'll know either way. He also might buy mine and then look around more, but he is on a time schedule.

Turns out I have three buckets worth of brass. The wife reminded me of where the other two were stored. Those are pre-sorted rifle brass, mainly 30 06 and some 30 carbine.

How much for pre-sorted 30 06 or 30 carbine? Call it 500 rounds of each. Anyone know? That's what I'd ask if I was selling it to a reloader.

Around here a good deal is about 4 cents a round for pistol calibers already cleaned. I've also been to a few ranges where you can pick up yourself and it's 5 cents a round for anything. For a 30-06 or 223 round the average would be like 7-10 cents a round.

never mind. Turns out he needed WAY more then I had so he bought several hundred pounds from at least one local range. He said if that's still not enough he'll call me for mine. Nice guy, btw, had a nice brief chat about the movie

very cool story

my older brother tried to get on as a camera man for the filming but the movie would screw with him filming cougar town (courtney cox show)
