Need clarification on Remington 1100 function/action

Thanks for the clarification. I thought you were saying that all of your 1100s DIDN'T lock back when hand cycling rounds from the magazine.

But am I also correct in inferring that you are able to cycle rounds through without it locking back if you do it quickly enough? I don't see how that would be possible, at least on mine. Maybe you could do it, but I can't.

I don't suppose the Magnum has a different/stronger latch spring or something...

I hav an 1148, two 1187s, and an 1100. All will lock back when hand cycled.

The round coming out of the mag has nothing to do with recoil. The round hits the head of the carrier latch and releases the bolt.

If you bought the firearm with the easy loader attached, it may have ben installed improperly. The instructions with the Easy Loader was a Quality and Assurance manager nightmare.

Here is a picture tutorial.

If you're addressing me, I own a stock 1100 magnum, that has never been messed with, nor been in the same room as an Easy Loader. It functions perfectly when shooting live rounds. When hand cycling, even live rounds, the bolt locks back. So apparently the recoil has something to do with how the round hits the carrier latch.

The Magnum has no different parts from a standard model other than the barrel and action sleeve and a recoil pad.
Recoil has nothing to do with how the gun functions. I put one with a crappy stock up against a tree one time to prove a point and pulled the trigger. It cycled fine.
With 48 years of practice I can jerk the handle fast enough to cycle the bolt maybe 60 to 70% of the time.
