44 Special:
Have; Bullseye, Unique, 2400, Red Dot, Herco,HS6, HP-38, Longshot Universal, & Clays Powders in stock.
Loading:
Speer 200 grain jacketed Hollow points to use up.
OAL would be helpful also.
I can find data for 240 grain but 200 has been rough.

Thanks in advance.

Since you didn't specify that these bullets are the Gold Dot hollow points, I'm assuming they're the older Mag-JHP (part# 4425). Speer #12 says they should be loaded to a COL of 1.460" in the .44 Special, with the following min-max powder charges (3" Taurus test gun):

Powder ...... Min ..... Vel ......... Max ..... Vel
------------------------------------------------------
Unique ..... 7.4gr .... 792 ........ 8.2gr .... 898
HS-6* ...... 9.0gr .... 754 ....... 10.0gr ... 866
Bullseye ... 5.6gr .... 772 ........ 6.3gr .... 842
2400* ..... 11.4gr ... 710 ....... 12.4gr .... 797

* = magnum primer

Have fun and be safe!

I have found 700X to be very accurate in .44 Spl with lead. It also works well with jacketed. I really like the 200 to 215 Gr bullets in .44 Spl. Since you have Unique I would try it. It should work very well.

Unique works so well in the 44 Spl and 45 LC, both of which are low pressure big case cartridges, that I have not seen a reason to change. I have tried Bullseye, AA#5, W231, and they all work well, but Unique is still my first choice.

I was able to purchase a bunch of 200 grain lead bullets. The nominal weight was 200, but when I weighed a few they turned out to be closer to 205 grains.

When I used Hercules data and tried pushing them at load of 9.0 grs Unique, I got horrible leading.

For my practice loads, I finally settled on a load of 205 L, 6.0 grains Unique. This load shoots to point of impact in my Taurus and only lightly leads.

You can push a JHP much faster and it will shoot well.
