Grips shipped today and I'll have them Friday.

I am anxious to get them. The wood looks nice, but the MilTacs will be more durable and look great as well, as you say!

Sig

P239 single stack. P229 for a little more capacity. The P239 is my favorite. Nice slim grips for my smaller hands. Reset on the trigger is very short and helps with follow up shots.
Buy CPO (Certified Previously Owned) in the red box.....or buy used.

If you are really looking for a good CCW pistol in 9mm, I cannot recommend the H&K P7 series highly enough. It is what I chose after several different iterations, different styles, and different philosophies.

It is, as a carry gun, almost the perfect blend of safety and deadly speed. Literally I could Mexican carry this safely and still shoot it faster than anything else.

A lot of these guns (in the P7 PSP form) came into the country over the last couple years as police surplus from Germany. So a lot has been written that you can find by Googling.

However, this list of Pros and Cons is pretty well-thought out:
http://www.gunfaqs.org/P7FAQ/P7ProCon.htm

The pricing info is old. Esp the PSP can be had much more inexpensively.

The only real drawback is potentially weight. But a good holster solves that. ;) It is very slim and easy to CCW.

Plus, it's also just very interesting and accurate, so it's a good gun to have regardless.

I had my carry gun nitrocarburized (Melonite, like HK's HE or Glock's Tenifer finishes) and put tritium tubes in the excellent stock sights. It's not pretty, but man it works.

Prior guns CCW'ed: Glock 27, Glock 17, HK USPc .45, SW 442, SW 629 3" (not often).

My Glock 26 is fun to shoot. It's fat-ish frame makes the recoil easy to handle. My new Ruger SR9 is bigger overall, but thinner, and is terrific to shoot. The Glock is a tank. The SR9 is new so the jury is still out, but so far, it's been perfect.

The SR9 looks and feels different from most other plastic 9mm's I've handled and/or fired. You just might like it.

Best carry gun I own is Kahr PM9

I don't find the recoil to be unpleasant whatsoever, and the gun is very accurate for its size. That said, if you are dead set against the Kahr, I recommend any of the following: Walther PPS, Beretta PX4, Beretta PX4sc, or XD9sc.

S&W M&P15, 5.56mm
Benelli M2 Tactical, 12 gauge
Astra double barrel, 16 gauge
Winchester 22 pump, Gift from Grandfather 55 years ago
Beretta 84F .380
Beretta PX4 Storm, 9mm
Beretta PX4sc, 9mm
Beretta CX4, 9mm
Kahr PM9
Kahr P380
XDm, .40
XD9sc, 9mm
XD45c, 45 ACP
Walther PPS, 9mm
S&W 910, 9mm
S&W 340PD, 357 mag
Multiple 38 and 357 revolvers

If you like a polymer pistol I can recommend the XDM 9mm. I'm very happy with mine and think it's a high quality well designed firearm.

Springfield XD-M-Hands Down!

I bought my first one in December just before Christmas. I was so impressed I bought a second one 4 weeks later in January. This is the kind of 9mm you dream about. I have never had a failure of any kind in either gun and never expect one. The XD-M is built TOUGH, like a Tank! The 19rd Mags are a Plus:evil: Accuracy is Excellent. I Love the fact the gun is so Slim. Has a 4.5 inch Barrel and you could still use it as a Carry Gun. I have always referred to the XD-M as a Combat 9mm, because that is really what it is built for. I am contemplating getting an XD-M .40 next. I really cannot wait until they come out with the XD-M .45:)

If for some reason you decide the XD-M is not for you at least the market is flooded with Great 9mm's. I have a SW-MP that is a Great 9mm. CZ makes Great 9mm's. Taurus makes their 92 series of very accurate, durable 9mm's [Might be a little big for carry]

The Best to you and Yours!

Wanted to get some ideas from you guys about a 9mm pistol. My only requirements be that it be reasonably small enough for concealed carry, but not so miniscule that it's not fun to shoot at all. (Example: Kahr PM9 or Keltec P3AT) Nothing against little guns at all, just don't want another gun that I don't like to shoot at all, except in life and death situations. My perfect gun would be small enough to carry but large enough (or ergonomic enough) to handle the recoil of a 9mm for fun plinking at the range. I've been toying with the idea of a Kahr K9 or an XDm 9, but I haven't settled on any one platform. I'm not the biggest fan of polymer, but if it's a great gun I'm willing to bend a little.

Sounds to me like you just described an M&P 9c

Hasnt been pitched yet so I will throw two relatively modest priced guns I am a fan of into the ring. I like the FNP-9mm and the Steyer M1A1. Both of mine have about 3000 rds and counting through each without a failure to fire or a failure to extract.
Stay away from Taurus's I tried one and yup it broke! Couldnt even get parts for it! Had to have my local smithie make the part thanks to some wonderful advice from Old Fuff.
I have shot all the ones mentioned and I agree that the high end stuff like the HK and Sig are great guns, yeah EMP too, but for the money it is just hard to beat an FN.

"been there....done that......get a Glock 19"

Best advice I've heard all day...Seriously, go ahead get a Glock...the G19 is an awesome gun, and one that you can count on to go "BOOM" every time you pull the trigger...There's a lot of great guns out there, but none of them exceed Glocks dependability...they don't call it "perfection" for nothing...Just the right size, light, and extremely accurate...It's all there for you...whatever
you choose, shoot it a lot and get comfortable with it...good luck, happy shooting!!!

I've been very pleased with my new M&P 9. :)

Very accurate and reliable. I've fed it various fmj and jhp rds without a problem.

Ergonomics are great, feels good in hand, balances and points well.

The pistol comes with 3 -17 rd mags and 3 interchangable backstraps.

Mine has night sights which is an option I'd recommend.

I must be doing something wrong asmy PM9has over 20,000 rounds through it, never give one issues and for me it is my 24/7 pocket gun, easy to carry at 14 ounces and absolutely super to shoot. If u think the recoil is alot on the pM9, then you should go to a 22 caliber, for they are the nicest shooting pocket guns on the market IMO. If ur gonna waist band carry the varieity is unlimirted, Pocket carry is another thing.

You should test out a PM9 before making a rash statment, IMO.

Handguns are a very personal thing, you need to decide what is right for you. That being said, I love my CZ75 Compact.

From my personal experience with 1911s, Glocks, and Walthers, the full size 1911s were best for me. Second was the Walther p99, and last was the Glock. This is purely subjective to what felt right in my hand and what I could comfortably carry. I'm a big fellow, I'm already carrying 50lbs too many so the weight of a pistol doesn't really bother me.

STI single stack 1911 9mm such as the Ranger II or double stack such as the STI VIP 1911 in 9mm. 20 rounds in a 1911 format is tempting but also around $1500 plus tax.

Kahr PM9 is great for pocket carry and a little lively in 124 gr. +P Speer Gold Dots. Hang on!

Of course Glock 19 or 26are good choices in polymer.

9mm, carry & plink

My personal preference for carry is my full size 1911 double stack 45. I wear a jacket all year round (life style.) But...I am looking for a 9mm, seems like for the same reasons as you. The one I like (so far) is the Taurus PT917c..I think I have the model numbe right. It's exactly the same as the "full size" PT92, same as the Beretta P-92 service model except...it's a bit smaller. To me there is no difference in concelling a "full size" or a "small" pistol. The only thing hard to hide is the grip. If you make the grip too small you can't hang on to it. You can put the barrel almost anywhere...inside the pants hides it really well. I like that "little" Taurus because it is just a tad smaller (and lighter) But like its larger brother its all steel. It's not a "pocket" gun but that's not what I want...or, do you maybe?
