So I purchased a basically new Glock 22 (very lightly used) about a week ago. I am generally able to conceal it, but am starting to think that maybe a smaller Glock would be a good idea.
I'm relatively big at 6'2", and am a pretty average size (not fat but not super skinny either). I have big hands as well.
As of now, the Glock 22 can be concealed under just a light shirt over a T-shirt, both covering the gun which is situated inside the waistband. However, as summer approaches, there will likely be some days where anything more than a T-shirt is too much. I live in Oregon, so most days aren't super hot, but there are stretches where it is quite hot.
I took a look at the Glock 27 as I've heard so many people talking about it and found that it was way too small for me to grip comfortably (big hands) - this is with the grip extentions Therefore, the gun I'm currently looking at is the Glock 23.
My funds are low, being a college student, so I'd be trading in the Glock 22 for the Glock 23.
My dilemma is that in every regard besides concealment, I like the Glock 22 better. It fits my large hands nicely and I find it easy to control. The Glock 23 is just big enough that I can grip it okay, though not as comfortably as the Glock 22 (my pinky finger lies right on the floor plate of the magazine). In addition, I found it a bit harder to control, which I assume can be corrected through practice.
Looking at the 23 and 22 side by side, the size differences appear very minute. I haven't had the chance to carry the 23 or the 19 for that matter as I've never owned one, so I don't know how differently they'd carry.
My question is, is the better concealment of the Glock 23 worth sacrificing a little bit of grip comfort (I can still get a full grip on the 23, just not as full of a grip as I can on the 22), capacity and sight radius? Will that 1/2 an inch make much of a difference? If the difference is significant, then I may be willing to sacrifice a little bit of shooting comfort. If it's negligible, then probably not.
Maybe I'm just overreacting - I can basically conceal the G22 under a white T-shirt with a minor amount of printing (probably wouldn't carry that way though, a little too much printing for my tastes).
At either rate, any advice or opinions would be appreciated.
