So i have some short notice tasking from the boss, i need a range finder that will work at night. we have one we use to keep the separation between ships at the desired distance, it works great during the day but the readout is in black, i either need a NV range finder, or preferably a range finder that uses either red or green illuminated

budget: i'd say around $500, but if it is necessary we can spend a few $k.

it does not need to have any magnification, ships are easy to spot,

it does need to be able to read at night, so the reticle needs to light up

it needs to be weather proof, rain, shine, snow, sea spray, it will see it

what products does THR recommend?

any and all help is appreciated

I would look into Leica. I have a Older Bushnell and it would obviously work at night but you couldn't see the display. The Leica's and maybe some other brands have it now use a lighted display for range which works nice at night. I was a depredation agent and shot deer at night with slug guns from contact range to 175 yards at night and I always tried to borrow my buddies range finder which was a Leica 600 yarder.
