I have a buddy who recently traded into a Smith & Wesson .44 mag snub. It has a 3" barrel, it is stainless, has a fluted 6 shot cylinder, and has a round butt with wood grip w/finger grooves.

He was told it was a Lew Horton pistol. It has a VERY light trigger. It has a hair trigger single action, and buttery smooth double action. The gun has several different numbers on it, so we don't know which one is the serial number. It has all of the following numbers on it in various places:

ANA9467
M629-1
77216
B19

I have no idea which one is the serial number. Can anyone help me out with this? I'd like to know exactly what type of gun it is (Lew Horton or otherwise), when it was made, and approximately how much it's worth...

TIA!

There is the critical info - and that was I expect on the frame .. and visible when crane swung out ... just above hinge area.

An early Model 629 ... the classic stainless Smith 44 mag. Round butt? ... Hmmm haven't checked in my info library but - woulda thought this would be a square butt.

S&W officionados will no doubt inform on this.:)

There was a Lew Horton M629-1 w/ RB and 3" barrel made in the mid 1980's. In excellent condition I would say it's worth $500+ depending on your location. I have seen prices as high as $700 lately if LNIB.
