I acquired a FN 30-06 while I was a kid from my great uncle. Some of the markings are hard to distinguish, but only a couple of them. There is a crest on the barrel and letters are ELG. In between the crest and FAB. NAT. D'ARMES de GUERRE HERSTAL-BELGIQUE is another marking that is ACA with the c a little higher than the a's. There is 2 places that have a L with a star above it. All 3 serial #'s on my rifle match and the # is 0XX, which makes me think its old. I did take it to a gunsmith once and he dated it between 1908-1912. He told me it was military issue, but the stock has been modified. The rear sight goes up to 19, which I am assuming means 1900 meters. It's hard to describe everything, so I took a couple pics to try to help. I am on phone, so attachments are disabled, but if you know anything about this era of this rifle, I will get pics up ASAP. Is there any way you could tell me the value? I use it to hunt, but I know I have something special.
Thanks,
Doug
