guys/gals I would appreciate a bit of help with a problem I have. any advice would be appreciated.

I recently sold an M14 scope mount and replica E2 bipod to a soldier on leave from Afganistan. He told me he was going back to the sandbox so I didn't charge him shipping and cut him a deal.

He arrived in AFG a week ago and found out that while the bipod worked just fine, the mount is made for civilian M14/M1As with thicker reciever walls and does not fit reliably on his military issue m-14 with thin walls. he gets very nice groups with it, but it does not hold zero well. I have sold quite a few of these mounts, and they always worked well, but then again they always went only onto civvie M1As.

He doesn't blame me for it but told me that he is once again back at square one, with an M14, a nice scope, and no way to mate the two.

Here is his last message:

Hey Kev.

Got a problem, not really your fault, but I thought I would let you know. I am back in Afghanistan. The Mount I bought from you is for a civilian M14/M1A. which has a thicker receiver as opposed to the thinner mil-spec M14, Resulting in horrible shot groups and no way to get a good zero. I consistantly get "flyers" which will group, and then a group on the bullseye. So anyway, I am back at square one with a M14 and a scope but no way to mount the two.

I told him to give me a few days and see what I can do about it.

I would like to replace his civvie m14 mount with a mil spec one and not charge him for it. the guy is an army sniper in afganistan where people are getting shot up all the time, and i figure its what little I can do to help.

but I don't know what military m14 specs are and I don't know which mount will fit it for sure. so.. if someone knows, please let me know so I can replace it for him. it's got to be as sure a thing as possible though as shipping isn't cheap and while i don't mind losing a little money for a good cause i can't afford to spend too much.

if someone knows of a used mount that will work that will also be swell.

Usually it's the other way around, the mount is made for the M14 and has problems on the M1A because its mounting groove is out of spec.

I'd talk to either Sadlak or Smith Enterprise.
