I removed the barrel and trigger assembly for cleaning. After I put it back together the bolt won't go all the way forward. It looks like a lug on the bolt is hitting the left side of the back of the barrel assembly. Something is misaligned or slipped. I also tried to install the barrel with the bolt forward but the barrel just pushed the bolt back.
ANy help is appreciated.

Are the locking lugs of the bolt aligned vertically? It sounds like the bolt is rotated out of position.

Carbines are you shooting that model 8 much and what caliber is it?
I have a model 81 in .35 remington. Shot it once and never missed a beat. Took it out a second time a few months later and the thing kept "trapping" spent brass.
Fun rifle to shoot. Gunsmith says he won't touch it. Too damn hard to work on he says.
