I am considering buying the Jericho 941/Baby Eagle at the listing above. I am relatively new to pistols and this is the also a first online firearm purchase so I am going to be cautious about it. There are two pictures in the listing and the seller sent me three more by request. So far, there are a few minor dings but the only real point of concern is the slide stop, which appears greatly discolored. In fact it's almost brown. Can anyone tell me if this is a problem or a sign of the gun being too worn out? Can reblue it cheaply? According to the seller, the slide stop is made from a different kind of steal so it wears differently.

Any help you could offer would be much appreciated.

EDIT: The listing has ended but be re-listed soon.

I have a Baby Eagle in .40, they are nice reliable guns (a little on the heavy side). The one in the listing shows a fair amount of use and the finish looks a little worn all over. Unless you want this particular model, you could probably find one in better shape for close to the same price. If you choose this gun, I would pay more attention to the condition of the bore and other high wear areas.

That being said, the finish on my baby eagle is still pretty good and there is a slight difference between the frame and slide-stop. Different steel will give you slightly different colors, it is impossible to match them exactly.

If you want to re-blue, look on Midway for "slow rust blueing" it gives a good finish and is easy to do at home w/o some sort of dunk tank.
