I took a picture of my barrel vise, the picture weighed 200 + lbs, wood blocks? I caught one set on fire then I was told I needed rosin, my response to the rosin advise 'not if that stuff is combustible'. 30,000 pounds will secure a barrel, a 4 foot extension on the action wrench with me hanging from the end of the extension gives me 1,200 foot pounds of torque, and, I have used 3 foot extensions that, in my opinion, put me in a strain. Love that sound of the press relaxing POW!!.
Then there are the torque impact wrenches, the type that are used with a big shop hammer, don't use that one very often. normally used after someone says something like 'there is nothing to it, all you need is etc., etc..' If I installed the barrel, wood blocks in barrel vise has a chance to work but when I start to remove a barrel from an ole military rifle, I expect the worst and am seldom disappointed.
