Range only guns?

Glock 9mm:

Glock 34 Competition, with a 5.32" barrel, with a longer sight radius for better accuracy.

Glock 17L, with a 6" barrel, with longest sight radius for far out accuracy.

All of the above have 18 round capacity (17 mag, 1 chamber), and can also hold the Glock 18 33-round magazines, if you don't feel like reloading as often on the line. ;)

Glock .40:

Glock 35 Competition, with 5.32" barrel.

The Glock 17 or 19 9mm or 22 or 23 .40 would be good choices, as would the Ruger SR9 9mm.

Also you might consider the Ruger P95. You can get one for around three bills, and they are superbly reliable.

I'm not personally a Glock fan, but many, many are so I'm sure you'll be happy with it if you decide to go that way.

FWIW: My current favorites in 9mm are the Smith M&P and the CZ 75. I don't think you could go wrong with either one.

Get the M&P if you like plastic or the CZ if you like steel.

I have owned or shot several others including Ruger P89, Ruger SR9, Glock 17, Springfield XD-9.

The M&P and CZ are just fantastic guns.

Range Gun #1

CZ SPO1 (essentially an improved 75B): An excellent range gun in 9mm. Steel gun with good weight distribution. Low muzzle flip, upturned beaver tail for high grip, high capacity mags, extremely accurate, very reliable, in your price range.
Can easily be used for competition or just to make impressive group pics.

Depending on your needs/skill level/budget/etc...

Could you post more details about what you need, how much you want to spend($$$), skill level, etc??

In general, I'd suggest a SIGsauer DAK model P-229R, a HK P2000(LEM) or HK P-30.

A Ruger GP-100 revolver with adj sights or Ruger SP-101 would be a smart choice for a DA/DA only revolver.

CZ 75B or Beretta 92FS - both classics!

Make sure you like the grip angle on that Glock before you buy it - it's not for everyone.

M&p 40

Go with the S&W M&P 40 - You can pick them up for around $450-$500 new, lifetime warranty and S&W has a promo going on for $50 back and (2) free 15 rd mags. I own one and it's perfect. Better than any Glock.

Rusty i can spend $600. I have only fired 1 auto it was a 1981 colt goverment 9mm
I put 25 rounds down range and loved it.I only own a smith and wesson 66-1 357 Its fun but I would like to have a auto.I would like some thing that is full size holds 10+ rounds and is easy to use.

Look at CDNN Investments, online. They have police trade-In's in quite a few different brands, I believe.

I'm not going to recommend any gun on your list.

$600.00 and under, here goes:

Browning Hi Power.......but be warned, it'll spoil you.

Fabrique Nationale FNP-9. DA/SA or Decocker only.

Berretta PX-4 Storm. Get the Type F or C.

Springfield XD-9. Four inch service model.

Stoeger Cougar. Probably the best value on this list. Someday it will be more $.

CZ P-O1

CZ-75

S&W M&P

There are others but these would be my choices for you to peruse.
