My buddy has recently inherited Winchester Model 70 in 7mm WSM. It is not terribly old, but has been in less than dry storage for a while. We were cleaning it today and discovered some rust in the chamber where the barrel is threaded into the receiver as well as a couple of small spots on the bolt face. The bolt face was easy enough to clean up, but the barrel/receiver area is very difficult to get to.
Does anyone have any suggestion on how we might get this problem cleaned up? Is it complicated or hazardous to accuracy to remove the barrel and access this area in that way?
Also, if my nomenclature seems incorrect, I would appreciate guidance in that area as well.
