Gents,

I am soon to have in my posession a CX4 Storm. I don't own a Beretta 92, so I am unfamiliar with the mag choices out there. Three questions:

1. What works, what doesn't? (a brand quality question basically)

2. Do 10 round 96 mags work loaded with 9mm, and if so how many rounds do they hold?

3. Are any of the over 15 round mags worth getting? 20 rounds or so would be nice.

Thanks in advance!

I had some poor luck w/ aftermarket mags for my Beretta, so I stick w/ factory. As for the 40 mags...I've bought a couple factory 40 mags last year to test them in my 92fs' and found they held 14 rounds w/o a problem & work well.
By the way, I envy you your new acquisition! Congrats ;)

Thanks! I am looking forward to trying it out. Looks like a handy little carbine from what I see online, but I have yet to see one in person. I will post a review on the rifle forum when I get to the range with it.

The best buy in hicaps are the Taiwan military surplus 15 rounders. $18 at CheaperThanDirt, $20(?) at CDNN, $25 from Dillon

I believe CDNN has 30 rd. 92 mags for something like $9, however, they are designed for European beretas with heel releases. All you have to do to make them function is cut a mga catch slot in them.

One Storm owner has reported only factory mags worked in his Storm. After market mags wouldn't feed properly. I aked other Storm owners if their experiences were similar on the Beretta forum but got no responses.

I saw that post on the beretta forum where the fellow said his was mag picky. There is another guy at AR15.com that said his ran fine with some aftermarket 30 rounders, so I am not sure what to think. At this point I plan to get several different brand mags and capacities. I may end up being the Storm mag compatability guinea pig for everyone else.

Oh well, anything for the cause!

From all the responses you're getting it looks like experience is what its going to take. As for me I have five factory pre bans that work flawlessly. I have a 20 rounder that I got at a gun show that is just as good. I have two 17 round Eagle mags that won't feed HPs but ball ammo works great. So I've got good carry mags and good range-only mags from my dealings with different brands.

I have had very good luck with factory Beretta mags and Mec-Gar mags in my 92.

I have two of the Asian 15 round magazines from CDNN and they have both (at one time or another) dailed to lock the slide open after the last round. Other than that they have functioned fine.
