A friend of mine has a strange rifle that he inherited from his father. It is a bolt action, 7mm remington magnum rifle that was bought in the 1980's. It has a blued finish, wood stock with cheekrest, and a Luepold Vari-x 3-9x scope. The finish is about 95%, and the wood is very nicley finished with excellent grain and a few dings. On the left side of the reciever are the words "Zbrojovka, BRNO". Below that it reads "Narooni Podnik". Further forward on the receiver are a few small engravings that I can't make out, they look like a couple of stars. That is all i know about the rifle. It has no serial number that i could find. It is peculiar in the way that it has two triggers. One trigger in the back that has a long, rough trigger pull to "set" the front trigger, which when "set" by the rear trigger has the lightest, crispest pull I've ever felt. You basically just have to make contact with finger to trigger and it will go off. Any info? Date of manufacture, history, approximate value, etc?

doesn't sound like a current production CZ...

as I recall from reading, there were quite a few Czech Mauser sporters put out like that over in Europe... both before and after WWII. Can we presume it is a Mauser action?

Unfortunately, I returned the book I borrowed that talked about 'em. :(

BRNO was building very fine sporters on Mauser type actions. The long (magnum) actions are particularly desirable and a lot of great African rifles were built on those.

I'd keep that rifle. It was built with a lot of hand fitting and attention to detail. You'll never get what it's really worth if you sell it.
