I have just inherited a SAKO rifle in .308 caliber. It has engraving on the floor plate of a Pronghorn and some scroll engraving on the trigger guard. It is blue with a wood stock. I would say the condition is about 98%. Serial # L579-MO 73XXX. On the bolt is "GF3"

Does anyone know what the model of this rifle would be?

Thanks, Rev John

I think .308's were only chambered in L579 Forester models as posted above. The Vixen action is NOT large enough to take the .308 cartridge; it fits the .222 and .223 cal's. The L579 came in std and deluxe version. Difference is the Deluxe had a contrasting fore-end tip on the stock and much nicer finish. Both are fine rifles. Enjoy it!

Good shooting and be safe.
