I have a couple of Garands in good condition but the barrels are in bad shape. I am looking for an economical source to get the barrels replaced.

I don't need match grade barrels....just good field grade shooters.

Thanks

I understand Fulton Armory is good, but they may not be what you would consider economical.

I think they charge $80 for a "technical inspection", where they will discuss with you anything they find that is out of spec. Could be nothing.

Basic military contour barrel (new, not surplus) is $350, or $405 for a chrome-lined one.

$430 sounds like a lot, probably similar to what you paid for the rifles, but I understand it is quality work and you only have to have it done once. :)

Fulton Armory

Douglas and Wilson both make M1 contour bbls. Midway and Brownells sell them. They are around I've even seen the sportmans guide and such places with them from time to time. They are usually short chambered and will need to be installed by a smith. The Wilson and Douglas barrels are around $200.
