Need recommendations on a .22

Fun: Ruger Bearcat or Single Six
Serious .22 shooting: Ruger MKII or MKIII (regular or 22/45)
Practice for Self Defense: S&W 317 and Advantage Arms upper for Auto (Glock 23 in my case)
Stick in the pocket on walks: S&W 2214 or Beretta 21A

I own and shoot all or the above but Beretta, but I have had one in the past and loved it.

My 317 and AA Glock get shot more than all of my other handguns combined.
I like using a .22 better than dry firing. Glock is for all practical purposes the same gun (trigger, etc.) and the 317 has same trigger pull and same grips (Pachmyer COMPACs) as my 2 S&W 64Xs and Taurus 85UL.

wjh2657- Interesting reccomendations. Ill have to check those out too. Im just amazed at the wealth of knowledge here. Thanks again everyone who has posted so far.

can't go wrong with rugers! mkII, mkIII, single six. they are all tack drivers and great quality. I love my single six, and can shoot .22mag out of the other cylinder.

.22s

I guess alot depends on your budget and what you want to spend... but as always, try to at least hold 'em and shoot 'em first and see which is best for YOU!

For a .22, you'll never go wrong with either a RUGER Mark III or the BROWNING Buck... Had an old MarkII, lasts forever, ZERO problems... can't 'kill it!'

The SIG Mosquito has had a very bad history of being VERY particular with ammo... tons of jam-ups and FTFs with older guns... supposedly, newer models are better???? Would pass on the SIG.

I had your decision a long time ago... went with the CZ Kadet... 2000+rnds, FLAWLESS... Zero problems, excellent shoot, all-metal heavy-gun feel... makes you forget it's a .22... BUT, it's about $500... about $200 more than a RUGER... but for me, WELL WORTH IT!!
