When I bought my 500 S&W magnum, I also bought a bunch of reloading supplies from the same guy. That was a year ago, and some of the cast bullets were in Tupperware containers, probably because the boxes were in poor shape or whatever. I have a bunch of bullets that were marked 452 gr FNGC, but I cant find any data for these. Should I load them using the same starting data as my 440 grain? Any advice would be much appreciated. thank you

What powder are you using?

I have the Lyman book here. I'll look it up for you.

If by chance I Forget to check this thread, just send me a pm.

Lyman's Manual only shows 375 grains, 400 grains, and a 440 grain bullet.

For the 440 grain bullet:

h110 -->31.0 grain starting at 1460 fps and 30,200 psi with a max load of 34.5 at 1599fps, and 41,500psi

lil gun --> Starting load is 27.4 grains at 1456 fps and 33,200psi. The max load is 30.5grains at 1593fps and 44,500 psi.

I suggest using the h110 at a starting load and work your way up. It's starting load has a lower pressure than the other and will get you started.

I'd kinda like to use up the last of my lil gun, so if I load the 452 grain FNGC at 28.5 grains of lil gun it would be in the acceptable range, correct?

I just want to be sure. Hodgdons website shows 440 gr @ 30.0 - 35.0, and 500 gr @ 27.0 - 30.0

my other question would be seating depth, do I use the OAL for 440 gr @ 2.025"?
