on where I can look for REALLY cheap C&R rifles to be used as indoor decoration. Year, history, condition or usability not a factor. Just some old scrap that once was a gun but now is just history...

Please help,

Diesle

I'm embarrassed to ask, but what is C&R? Is that a brand? If you're looking for old junkers, and they don't have to be rifles, I have an old H&R Model 088 20 gauge that has surface rust & pits on the metal, the stock is weathered and cracked, and the barrel is not straight. If you want it, make me an offer - any offer - please! The problem is, the action is still functional, so technically I guess this would have to go through a FFL - unless I can figure out how to remove the firing pin and make it non-functional. I'm not much of a gunsmith - does it show?

Curios or Relics -

As set out in Title 27 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Part 178, S178.11, the term ''curio or relic includes certain firearms or ammunition which are of special interest to collectors by way reason of some quality other than is ordinarily associated with firearms intended for sporting use or as offensive or defensive weapons. To be recocnized as curios or relics, firearms must:

(1) Have been manufactured at least 50 years prior to the current date, but not including replicas thereof; or

(2) Be certified by the curator of a municipal, State or Federal museum which exhibits firearms to be curios or relics of museum interest; or

(3) Derive a substantial part of their monetary value from the fact that they are novel, rare or bizarre, or are from the fact of their association with some historical figure, period or event.

ATF has previously determined that any firearm which was actually manufactured more than 50 years prior to the current date, automatically qualifies as a curio or relic and it is not necessary for such firearms to be listed in the ATF Firearms Curio & Relic List for it to be included.

You are encouraged to contact ATF for confirmation that a firearm qualifies as a curio or relic. We have frequently encountered instances in which individuals have incorrectly dated a firearm due to misidentification of the firearm, erroneous reference material, or for various other reasons. It would be unlawful for a licensed collector to received {cqt} or transfer a firearm in interstate commerce as a curio or relic if it did not meet the definition in the cited section.

Hey, what is SOG?

Sure, I want it. Thats more or less what im looking for.. Just old unusable crap that still looks like a rifle or shotgun.

What state are you in? Does anybody know what the easiest way to disable a shotgun is so that it can be shipped directly to me...?

Thanks!

Gentelmen, please check yourselves. Even a bare receiver MUST go through an FFL if crossing state lines. Just taking out parts will NOT render it a non-firearm.

I don't want to see anyone getting themselves in hot water.

Now wait...

you mean to tell me that any gun made more than 50 years ago falls under C&R???

So, if I buy a Winchester made in 1952 it qualifies???

I believe its CenturyArms that does the U-Fix-Ems, I havent heard of SOG getting into that game yet.

Redneck2: Yes, if you can show the firearm was made more than 50 years before the current date, it is C&R.

GL,
Love your site and the work your doing. Your C&R information page was helpful. Thanks for the tip on the shipping. I had no idea what the shipping 'rules' are for disabled (demilled) guns or gun parts...

Keep it up!
