i'm looking for a 26 or 28" barrel with interchangable choke tubes. it'll go on my 870p when i need the versatility or the PC. question is mainly about the vent rib. i've found 2 28" remchoke system barrels, and both have vent ribs. seems vent ribs are preferred for clay games because of higher poi vs. poa. but will this throw me off when switching to and from the plain 18"?? also is there any thing else i should consider??
any help is appreciated.

thanks

Well in theory since we are "supposed" to be focusing on target and we "point" SG's - NO it shouldn't .

I understand what you are concerned about. Us old farts grew up with plain bbls and fixed chokes.

Then along came vent ribs, well then the after market ribs were being put on plain bbls. Then the "choke" got all important, so we got the "Poly's and Cutts".

The more things change - more they remain the same.

NO internet back then - should have heard the arguments we had tho' :D

For me personally - If the gun fits the shooter , and gun has been patterned ( shot) /grouped ( slugs) - and POA/ POI established ( tweaked if needed) and these loading chosen for task...Makes no difference to me.

I mean -yeah I like a mid bead and all...but I shot to many thousands of rds before the vent ribs came out.

I have proven beyond a shadow of a doubt I can miss with anything. From a plain bbl single shot, to a $50k hgh dollar custom tricked out Gold inlay Krieghoff.

I got that missing part down pat...practice, practice, practice...:D

It shouldn't make any difference if the barrel shoots true. Lots of us do not see the rib anyways.

Switching back and forth doesn't bother me.
