Need some feedback on an idea that's forming

First activism idea...

I just went off on a tangent in another thread. I'm not sure what sparked it, but here goes.

Do you think it would be in our best interest to organize a mail in to every congressman/senator in the country. Also, the president.

I understand that most of these people will more than likely dismiss the letters that are not in there area. But maybe not.

Send out a mass mailing every few weeks from as many members as possible to all of the government folks.

Set up a form letter to follow, but not followed exactly. Maybe add a personal note on the end.

I figure if they were all getting several thousand handwritten letters each week, they may take notice that gun owners are here to stay.

Thought, ideas, criticisms, they're all welcome. Keep the criticisms to a minimum though, because I'll kick your butt over the internet.

There are a number of supposed activist sites that generate huge numbers of faxes, emails, and mail to government officials on a regular basis.

I don't see anything wrong with writing or calling your local government officials periodically to let them know what you think, but it should probably be targeted to an issue that is up for consideration.
