I am trading my Springfield XD .45acp 4 inch service model, all black, for a new XD 5 inch .45acp stainless. My question is how much do you think I should try to get out of my 4 inch. She is in excellent condition and less then one year old. Probably has around 1100-1500 rounds thru her.

Thank you in advance!

The Best to all!

A shop is going to give you less than their cost of the trade in pistol. Most will offer you somewhere around 1/2 of what your paid retail or less. On a private sale you could get maybe 10% to 20% less than the lowest retail price in your area for your pistol. You will always get more money out of a private sale than through a dealer who must resell your pistol to a 3rd buyer. Its just like a car trade in, you'd make more money selling it yourself.

It also depends on your location. The XD 45 is in high demand in many areas. Some dealers will pay well on a good used so they have one in the display cabinet to sell. Sometimes they'll take a hit on the normal used gun margin for something that will sell quickly and easily.

Thank You Gentlemen!

Well it turned out well. The gun shop/shooting range where I do my business, let me put the gun on consignment. I put my own price on the gun and when it sells they take 15%. I thought that was a pretty good deal. Again Thank You for your responses!

The Best to You and Yours!
