Need opinions.. Glock or Springfield?

I own a 9mm and .45 XD, both in the service models.

One of the reasons I bought XDs instead of Glocks was because of the grip safety.

I don't even notice it, don't even think about it. It's simply an extra measure of safety that I appreciate.

Holstering can be done safely simply by placing the thumb on the striker indicator, or grasping the grip in the fingers rather than with a normal grip. Even if the trigger snags it's not going to fire.

I'm not an anti-glock nut--I've shot 'em, they performed well for me. It's just that the features of the XD fit my wants and needs better.

I own a G19(my favorite Glock) and a XD45 Tac. I like the XD platform slightly more than the Glock, primarily 'cause the grip is more comfortable for me, and I shoot the XD a tad better. I am a certified Glock armorer, and my next gun will be a XD over another Glock.

BTW, the G19 is the only Glock I'd own.

XD's blow IMO

Too bad for you, as the G21 reigns supreme!:neener: j/k (not really)

Triggers on the Glock are far superior to the XD. The Glocks are large grip, but that's no problem for me as I have man-hands.:p

What are the differences between the XD and the XDm? I know the XDm are the newer model but whats the "upgrades"?

Thanks for all your help.

Actually, a lot:
  • Match grade bbl
  • Higher capacity
  • Shorter reset trigger
  • 3 interchangeable back straps to adjust the size of the grip
  • No longer need to pull the trigger to field strip
  • Easier to operate mag release
  • Changed the serrations on the grip and slide for less slip (deeper serrations)

Cons:
Not available in .45 (yet)

Well both are good.

If you get the Glock, get the tried and true Glock 17 or Glock 19 in 9mm.

And I would recommend that you also consider the S&W M&P. The manual of arms is just like both the Glock and the XD and the price is going to be almost the same too.

The biggest practical difference between them is the grip angle, IMHO. Pick them both up and see which one points better for you.

Get the one that fits your hand best.
I think this is the best advice on this subject. I picked the XD because I have small hands and the Glocks all felt like 2x4s. If the grips were different it would be a toss up for me.
