I afraid the mopes in DC are going to slam through an unconstitutional ban on "assault weapons" before I can save enough to buy one so am begging for some help to get one. I'm not proud of it, but do not want to sell my carry weapon to fund it as I'm afaid of going completely defenseless. Any and all help, even a dollar is very much appreciated. Thank you!

(I haven't linked my fb account to it given the recent hacks by those publishing gun owners names and addresses and i have a wife and child to protect)

What letters have you sent to your Representative and Senators? Things sure don't look bright at the moment, but they will be a whole lot worse if we don't speak up as a group.

being poor myself i understand your situation but being practical i have learned how to make do with what i have
i suggest you get a walmart credit card and visit their sporting goods section .
i mentioned your request to my coworker and he said you should join the military and let them help you achieve your goal.

While I admire your idea of getting donations for a new gun, I'm afraid I have to decline.

I'm an American, and I work for my living. Like most Americans, that means living from paycheck to paycheck.

I'm a mechanic, and the money I get is directly connected to the amount and quality of the work I do. I'm also responsible for the way that money is spent.

So, the number of guns in my safe is a reflection of the amount and quality of the work I do and the wisdom I apply to my spending.

Contrary to the opinions of many, I see that as "The American Way", and it applies to more than just getting guns. It's also the way I keep my lights turned on and food in my refrigerator.

I recommend this way of life to you as well, sir.

If you want a new gun, you need to earn it. If your financial situation does not allow this, then I recommend you increase the amount and or quality of your work. Taking a look at how you spend the monies you have might also improve your ability to purchase the things you want.

I hope you can get the rifle you want, but donating my money for your rifle does nothing good for anybody.

Four posts since joining in 2007? You've not been too involved here to ask for fellow members to pony up for you to get a rifle. I feel your plight if it is genuine but the writing has been on the wall. I suggest you sell plasma to fund your gun purchase. It will be tough finding a military type rifle but if you keep yourself open to other options besides a AR or AK you should be able to find something reasonably priced.

protect your family with the firearm you already have..
no offense but you don't participate here quite enough for us to fund your next firearm.. Best of luck to you regardless ;)

Interesting request. I'll contribute by suggesting some ways that you can earn the extra money that you need to purchase such a rifle, outside of the obvious 9-5 job (Im hoping you already have one of those).

-Check Craigslist for 'gigs' or similar one-time odd jobs.
-Check out this list for some ways to make money online: http://www.clarkhoward.com/topics/workathome_help/
-as previously stated, donate plasma, blood, or participate in medical studies.
-if there is a university nearby, sometimes they have psychology tests/surveys that they will pay participants for.
-scrounge around your dwelling for stuff to sell on ebay, craigslist, etc
-pickup a second or seasonal job if time allows (holidays are past now, so these wont be as available as they would have been if you'd been looking in November, but Im sure there are some)

I wish you well, sir, as I'm in a similar place. I'd love to go out and buy a new AR, especially now due to fears of a possible ban, but funds dont allow. So I'll either earn more and use the extra, or I'll have to wait like the rest of us and make the best with what I have (I consider credit to be a non option for myself, simply out of principle).

So you want something you can't afford and instead of trying to figure out a way to earn the money yourself, you're asking a bunch of complete strangers to buy it for you?

That's, umm, a novel approach? :scrutiny:

Instead of acting like a Liberal and expecting others to support you, consider alternatives.

Unless you are planning rural home defense, a rifle is not the best choice. A pistol backing up a shotgun makes more sense in town.
If you are planning rural home defense, get a lever action. They have done the job for a long time and seem not to have been caught up in the Panic.
