Greetings

I have the opportuinty to purchase a .308 rifle through an estate sale. I have first dibs and I have not shot any of the rifles below. Nor will I be able to fire them. All of them look very nice:D All of my rifles are currently .223 AR-15's. I have come close to purchasing the both an AR10 and the a DSA FAL through group purchases. I'm looking for a gun to use.

AR-10 16" Stainless Barrel,Fiber forend, Armalite 97% 850.00

HK91-A2 with bipod, unfired 1500.00

Springfield Scout Fiberglass, no bipod unfired 800

DSA SA58 Carbine unfired 1000.00

I am leaning towards the bottom 3 due to the longer barrels. Any words of wisdom would be appreciated.

Thanks,

John

If you get the AR-10, man, are they LOUD out of that short barrel! Recoil really makes that puppy jump, too. They seem to have none of the reliabiilty problems associated with the smaller AR15 types, at least in my experience.

I would get the SA58 which is about $400 below list price.
But make sure it is indeed an SA58 and not an STG-58A, which only cost about $900 new.
Both guns produced by DSA have SA58 on the receiver as the same receiver is used on both guns.
On the other hand, that HK seems to be priced awfully low but I don't know a whole lot about HK's other than having fired a few.

Springfield Scout, as in the M-1A, .308 version of the scout for $800?

Get that one!

Man, I'd be torn between the Springfield and the DSA! I have already have a FAL, so I'd probably go with the Springfield.

Either of these rifles would be a great choice at those prices!

Just get a loan from the bank. Those deals are just too good to pass up.

Seriously though. I'd take the Springfield Scout for $800.

Let me echo that on you getting a loan.

Get a loan, and get three of the rifles at those prices.

Then, figure out which one or ones you wish to keep, and then sell the one or ones you don't want for something like $200 below MSRP and come out ahead on the deal!

The choice is a no-brainer. A preban HK vs postban everything else. Get the HK!

It depends on your purpose - collecting or shooting. As you mentioned that you wanted a shooter, I'd go with the DSA. FALs are a joy to shoot, and DSA quality is tops.
