Need some PopVox HELP on Bloomberg's "Common Sense" gun ban!

Submitted with my opposition to the proposed legislation.

Dear Congressperson:

I oppose the deceptively titled "Common Sense Legislation to End Gun Violence" because it does nothing to accomplish the stated goal of reducing murder rates while imposing restrictions on over 200,000,000 American voters guilty of nothing.

Murder rates are at an all time low for this generation according to the FBI's Uniform Crime Report. Murder rates where any type of firearm was used are at an all time low since the expiration of the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban. Rifles of any sort were used in only 2.5% of the 12,644 murders in 2011. The percentage of those rifles that Mayor Bloomberg wants to take away from 200,000,000 Americans is much smaller than all the rifles used in those few murders committed with some sort of rifle. This is particularly over blown when there were more than twice as many murders committed with knives and machetes and 4 times as many were committed with hands and feet as with all rifles that year.

If the firearms murder rates have been falling since the AWB expired and the FBI reports all rifles used in murders in 2011 only made up 2.5% of murders why try to demonize the millions of owners of these rifles?

I posted a link to this specific item on AR15.com

That site is a little hard to navigate - but I could not find where it had been discussed over there.

Just did it. I stated politicians should use common sense and deal with the real issues of mental health, loss of jobs and lax criminal justice for repeat offenders.

Done. It is time to let them know that we are awake and watching. It is time to let them know, if they won't represent the MAJORITY of Americans we will elect others that will. ENOUGH!!!!:fire:

Guys, I just went on this site. Voted "NO" and left a long series of recommendations that are actually Common Sense. Instead of the emotional hysteria of the "approach".
So then it wouldn't allow me to send it. Is it me or are the NO votes not counted? I'll try again tonight on a different computer. Now they got me Mad!!!!

Hopefully it's just busy from all the responses? I had to reload pages a few times to get my messages out, but then again I gots dial-up.

One of my Senators has a little form email that she sends whenever an email is sent to her, letting constituents know they got our communication. I had a LOT of those from her today :D so I guess it works ok...

Something is screwy with this on Popvox. I posted a link to this earlier on AR15.com and at that time it had 92% support with around 51k people supporting it. Now it apparently has lost votes from support? I wonder if it is being propped up by some automated voting program considering how many other proposals are pro-gun and how no amount of effort has been able to move this one particular proposal.

I have noticed A LOT of anonymous comments in favor of this. Not sure if it is just a suspicious/sour grapes observation on my part though.
