Hello,

My entire bottle of Nitro Solvent spilled all over my cleaning tools in my tool tray. I have brushes, extensions, etc that I would like to keep. I use these cleaning tools for all my guns.

What can I use to clean these tools? I am thinking brake cleaner, but please, someone let me know if that is a bad idea.

Thanks,

MC

Dish soap & hot water will do as well as anything.

Or a can of denatured alcohol from the hardware store.

Thanks RCModel. I am guessing, do I just soak the cleaning rods and brushes for a while and then air dry? This stuff has been sitting for a while and has built up a thick syrup-py consistency. I've mainly been shooting my AR lately and use another setup to clean it.

Thanks,

MC

The Hoppes probably started dissolving the bronze bore brushes.
They may be trash now?

The other stuff should come off with a little scrubbing maybe with a pot scrubber pad or something.

Hard to say without seeing it.

A run through the pots and pans setting of your dish washer. Maybe two runs. Then run it again before you put dishes in it.
Alternatively, a sonic cleaner would work well too.

Thanks for all your suggestions, folks. I really appreciate it. I ended up using the brake cleaner, only because I had some and did not have immediate access to the other items. It was a bad idea, IF you value breathing and staying in an un-well ventilated area. Never again!
