Need to eliminate unburnt powder in my Uberti saa

My 2nd pistol ever, a Ruger Single-Six, shot so high I just took the rear sight off and used the frame cutouts as the rear sight. Obviously, something was wrong with the pistol... but I was young and dumb and didn't know any better.

I still think something is going on with the pistol, but he's got it shooting, and that's what matters.

I use a 250 grain .454lead bullets and a near max charge of RedDot/Promo for good, accurate, and clean 45 Colt ammo. I have also had good results with 700X and Trail Boss as well. Glad the OP figured it out. Someday the OP should have it checked out for bullet/chamber/ barrel fitment as well as the cylinder gap as something seems off to me.

Mixed brass - but not a huge mix. Maybe 3 different types. Accuracy has always sucked with this gun. I have to aim about 6” lower than I expect to hit. But it’s fine once I know where to hold.

Using the crimp die that came with the Lee 4 die set for 45C.
Yeah - this all concerns me too. I really don't know if there is a gunsmith in my area who knows SAA. If I really want to I can make some calls. I bought this gun at an auction a few years ago and I think this is a gun from the 70's. An Iver Johnson import. I have a feeling I bought somebody else's problem. I would REALLY prefer a gun that shoots where the sights are pointing.

I have heard the suggestion about lighter bullets. I will definitely try that one day.

I have 2 Uberti revolvers. 45 Colt and 44-40. They both shoot high. The 45 Colt one was almost right with 180 RNFP loaded waaay down around 800 fps. The 44-40 came around with a 200 RNFP at ~ 800 fps. Perhaps Uberti sets the POI at a greater distance than most shoot SAA at.
