Hi guys,

I know nothing about shotguns, I saw this Pardner at a gun store and it sells for $69.00. I don't need to ask if the price is good, what can go wrong with that price. I'm not really sure if its used or new but who cares?

My questions:
1) Where do you use 16 gauge shots?
2) Can it be use for skeets?
3) Does 16g kicks like a 30-06?
4) Ok for turkey or duck?
5) Are 16 gauge ammos expensive?
6) Can one buy an extra barrel of different caliber?

1. a 16 can do anything a 12 or 20 does.

2. yes but the full choke commonly found on these single shot guns will hinder your hit ability.

3. no.

4. yes and for $69.00 who cares if steel shot scores the walls of the barrel.
Use Bismuth loaded shotshell for waterfowl and not worry about it, the stuff is safe in most fixed choke guns.
1 1/4 ounce #4 shot will kill a turkey to 50 meters or so.

5. 16 guage shells do tend to cost more and the selection is far less than 12 or 20 guage shells.

6. Kind sorta yes and no.
You will have to send the gun back to New England Firearms for fitting and a replacement barrel will cost more than what is being asked for the whole 16 guage shotgun.

Thanks for the replies. I think I'll let it pass, I was thinking of getting an extra barrel in 223.
