What can I do with a 28 gauge?

I just got a New England Firearms Pardner 20 gauge and I can get some other shotgun barrels. I already have a 10, two 12's and one 16 gauge, and I would like to have a 28 gauge and a .410 too, but I just don't know what I would use a 28 gauge for. What are some things they are good for?

28s make very nice grouse & woodcock guns. Not too sure about the NEF Partner as a bird gun.

28 is more than enough for pheasant over a pointing dog. Crows too. Skeet targets and sporting clays are well suited to a repeating 28 ga.

payload to bore is very efficient
Caution, never shoot a true 28 bore double gun, the next thing you notice is a serious addiction and reduced $ in bank--a good thing IMO

I'd consider the 28 gauge as a legitimate sporting tool for 30 yard maximum shots on most game birds. Think of it as a small 20 gauge more than a big 410. And, I'd want a hair more choke to compensate for the smaller shot charge. IOW, a shot that would be good with a IC 12 gauge load, even an oz, might need an increment more of constriction with a 28.Of course, this reduces the size of the effective pattern. Tradeoffs...

A 28 Gauge Pardner would not be the ideal bird gun, even in close cover, but what a nice little toting shotgun it'd be. Sounds like a great small game shotgun.
