NEF handi rifle / safety issue?

I have a NEF handi rifle. I have to firmly close it in order for it to lock, which is OK I guess. But, I notice that the lever/button you push to unlock the action rattles and moves a little. Is this normal? TIA

The best person to answer that is Quick. He is the mod. at GBO. Scroll down to the HR/NEF centerfire forum. I would say no, since I have quite a few. But Quick is the man you need to ask. As a matter of fact, anyone on the centerfire HR/NEF would and can tell you.

I was told that the release lever should be loose when the action is closed, and tight when it is open. My NEF conforms to this, and so do the others I have seen.

They are all a little lose when closed.

Spend some time over at GBO and let us know how your rifle works out for you. I've got one in .308 that took a little work but it is pretty accurate now.
