I have an old NEF .410 that I'd like to get a 20 gauge barrel fitted for. I don't use .410 for much other than pest control or teaching new shooters and a 20 gauge would be more useful to me but the gun has sentimental value so I can't just trade/sell it off.
Anyone gone with this option?
How much was the total cost? I did get a used single barrel NEF for about $69 earlier this year so if it's around that I might as well just buy another gun.

I faced this decision when I wanted to start my son shooting clays (he found 20ga a bit hard on the shoulder). To get him some trigger time, I ended up picking up some Little Skeeter gage adapters in .410. Yeah, I know .410 reduces his hit probability a lot, but the recoil is soft and its building is confidence. He hits a few, and at this stage thats enough. The adapters were cheap, and I did not need to ship the gun anywhere.

You could do what I did, and make it up on volume... :D

I went with 5 different barrels including a .50 muzzleloader setup, 16, 28, 12, and a 20ga rifled slug barrel. If you just want one barrel go ahead and get another gun. A 20ga. youth model is usually around $90-100 on sale for the holidays, add ten bucks for a regular length stock. Sometimes they have oddball special editions with laminated stocks, etc. so you should be able to find a neat piece for cheap..
