Negligent discharge

A guy I work with negligently discharged his XD40 at the range last week. He pulled the slide half way back, flipped up the disassembly lever, and then pulled the trigger to release the slide.....BANG! :what: There was a round in the chamber. :what: Luckily the weapon was pointed downrange. You can never be too careful!

I sure hope he learned his lesson.

Huh, that's odd. All of my XDs require the slide to be fully to the rear to allow the takedown lever to move upward.
 
This is why you always remove the magazine and clear the chamber, even when you know it is empty.
I sure don't care what happened to his slide, you deserve whatever you get when you do stuff like that. Just glad nobody else was endangered (because of where it was pointed).

I wasn't there to verify the story.

-----He is new to guns. My advice was to lock the gun up and take a safety course.
