Nevada transfer Question.

If I have a gun here in CA and want to give it to my father in NV, while I'm in NV all I have to do is hand it to him, correct?

Knowing he's not a prohibited purchaser and being in NV means NV regulations apply rather than the over reaching California regs.

Then just report to CA that I no longer own said pistol. Since they are uniquely registered to me.

Assuming he's a NV resident and in every other way clean and legal, that should do it... with the sole exception being Clark County req't for registration of concealable weapons/handguns (if he resides in the southern end of the state).

The transfer has to go through a Nevada dealer. Just handing the gun to your father is a violation of Federal law since you are residents of different states.

After the transfer, you should send a firearm not in possession form to the California DOJ. See the link for the form.

Notice of no Longer in Possession
