Never know what you’re going to find

No, no. It's a mandrel for making paper clips. And there is no better set up for grinding a Victornox to dust than a Lansky.;)
That photo brought back some very fine memories. Thank you, Gunny.

Dang, I think yer shops dusty...something in my eye...

Damn, and I thought that it was kinda nuts that I once found a couple SKS's and a Chinese MAK-90 underneath my bed that had dust all over the boxes that I couldn't remember buying at first.

Or that I found 2,300 rds of 12 ga in my garage that I have no memory of boxing up even after thinking about it for awhile (I finally remembered the rifles and the gun show that I bought them at).

Or losing a Vortex red dot for a year or three and finding it in a yellow and black Home Depot storage tube full of other barely remembered gun stuff.

You're like on a whole other level.

Immediately hooked.

" It still works but needs new brushes.
That flexible shaft has a broken cable and doesn’t work."

That is how mine die too. :)

I remember my Grandfather sitting at his lamp, stoning his Swiss Army knives to nothingness. Using a Lansky three stone sharpener, just like that one.

"See? A dull blade will cut you. And it will be bad, see. A sharp one won't slip, see. So it won't git you. Well, if it does it'll heal up quick, see, cause'n it's clean and sharp."

I asked him why he didn't buy a better knife.

"See, here! They make bigger knives. Why, they make sharper ones too. But they don't make no better ones."

There was nothing he couldn't fix. He once bought a Chevette to turn it into a sawmill. It made two, a log wagon and neat fort when I was kid.

I always wondered what a Chevette was good for.:D Gunny a tip of my hat to ya. I thought that I had the most disorganized reloading/gun room in the world, until now that is.:what: So if I don't clean mine I still do----that works.

A friend made these for me a while back.

I got this years ago while on a Navy ship in the South Pacific . I think it’s a Navy Anti Rape Whistle .

Gunny

And then there are those things I can’t explain.

Kind of looks like the remains of some sort of wasp or hornets nest maybe?

Actually I'm still trying to figure out where that miniature hand grenade came from?

Um... what's so rare or old as a pencil sharpener? I'm pretty sure I qualify as a "young" guy. Old fashioned, maybe.

I like my Lansky! I have one of their old 5-stone sets. Probably older than me. Works much better than the new style. I have one of them too.

HEY! You steal the cake pans out of the kitchen too!

PENCIL SHARPENER!!
You know not what you speak of. That just happens to be a Target Honing device. Or something like that.

I gotta get off my lazy rear and at least take a couple pictures of my personal hazardous zone now that you have inspired me a little bit. Not that I will probably find the willpower do much to change it in the near future though. Might be that we need to start a 12 step group of reload/smith/hoarder anonymous.:D

Omg Gunny has a totally clean flat surface!

Gunny I’m proud of you! I know youve been working hard to get that shop clean. Congrats on having made so much progress.

FYI I now have a table full of misc tools. As I’ve gone through boxes unpacking I’ve been putting any tools that I find
on a folding table. The plan is to sort them before I return them to the tool chest and rollaway. One possible issue is that I may have acquired a few tools (or many dozens but don’t tell anyone) over the last decade and I may need another tool chest.

Anyway just mentioning this as I plan the new shop and workbenches.

I do have to admit, one of the reasons I didn’t get much done last weekend is, I was binge watching the Punisher and Dexter on Netflix. :)
I also built this for a friend. We used one of his Red Jacket lowers for the build.

I'm really enjoying this thread and never thought it would last this long. It even inspired me to get to work on my area also. My humble shop / gun room / reloading area can't even begin to compare with that of the Gunny. But lot's of interesting stuff has surfaced. Like a bunch of WWII 303 British ammo that was loaded here by Winchester under the lend-lease program IIRC. It's headstamped " WRA 1943 " . Picked it all out of a 1000 round purchase of mixed headstamp 303 ammo purchased in the early 1990's. One other thing I noticed is that my pencil sharpener down here looks older than the Gunny's. Made by the same company but appears older. Those things are fascinating to young kids because they've never seen anything like that. IMG_0634.JPG IMG_0635.JPG

That is an excellent Target Honing Device, it’s a fancier model then mine.

I’m on the lookout for WWII 303 Ammo to go with my collection of Enfields.
