Ok guys..I hate it when I can't find exact load data but here's what I am trying to load up..10mm, G29, 1.260, Blue Dot, CCI 300(lpp), 180gr Xtream RNFP..The first 50 I loaded up were were 9.6 gr of blue dot..This was right in the middle of Horandys data for FMJ-fp which I am guessing is somewhat close to my 180 xtream RNFP...Any suggestions? Load Data?

The closest loads I could find are lost below and are starting loads for their respective bullets..

180 Hornady HAP, HP-XTP, FMJ-FP ENC Alliant Blue Dot 7.5 817

180 Speer TMJ FN or GDHP Alliant Blue Dot 10.0 1105

180 Sierra Jacketed HP Alliant Blue Dot 8.1 939

Must not be very many Blue Dot users out there... Guess I will try some other forums..

I am fairly new to loading 10mm also. 9.5g of blue dot with a 180 berry's plated bullet has worked well for me.

Hey..Thanks for the reply and it seems this might be a good start..The info below is for a Hornady FMJ-FP and plated bullet manufactures seem to suggest using middle of the road jacketed data so we are close I think. Mandy a little less even.. It's funny how Hornady will lump all their bullets together sometimes and the powder data is good for all of them..humm... Oh, I threw in a Lyman Cast load even though the bullet is a 175gr cast..

180 Hornady HAP, HP-XTP, FMJ-FP ENC Alliant Blue Dot 8.1 879
180 Hornady HAP, HP-XTP, FMJ-FP ENC Alliant Blue Dot 8.6 950
180 Hornady HAP, HP-XTP, FMJ-FP ENC Alliant Blue Dot 9.1 1020
180 Hornady HAP, HP-XTP, FMJ-FP ENC Alliant Blue Dot 9.6 1077
180 Hornady HAP, HP-XTP, FMJ-FP ENC Alliant Blue Dot 10.2 1151
180 Hornady HAP, HP-XTP, FMJ-FP ENC Alliant Blue Dot 10.7 1212

Remarks: sugg. start load; 1.253" OAL; 23,800 cup 175 Cast #401638
Alliant Blue Dot 9.3 1175
Alliant Blue Dot 10.4 1275

I load 10mm for my G29 but not with Blue Dot. I've only used Titegroup, Bullseye, HS6, and just recently with some newly acquired W231. I use the Xtreme 180gr HP instead of the FP. The W231 is my favorite. I don't load very hot so mine shoot pretty good.
Sorry I couldn't help with the Blue Dot.

I load 10mm, just not with Blue Dot. I have several other powders I use for that which require a smaller charge.

Well...Just got back from the range. I shot a ladder of Blue Dot from 9.1 - 9.6 and all functioned and shot well..Seems the lower range of Blue Dot can be a little flashy and all were loud..No pressure signs @ 1.260 unless you count the scuff on the web of my right hand...Gotta love the 10mm!!

Thread drift from topic but...

LongShot is probably THE best powder you will find for 10mm.

Aside from what has already been posted, in the past 20+ years or so of loading for mine, I have found nothing better than the Accurate line. 5,7, or 9 depending on just what weight bullets I am loading.

With the 180gr up I use #9 exclusively and get all the velocity I need or want. The accurate powders are also somewhat lower in flash than most others that are recommended as well.

RN I think you have found your load. It functions well and I assume is accurate as you did not comment on that. As it pertains to bluedot are you looking for more velocity? I really didn't understand what you are looking for.

I have been loading 10MM for a very long time and no matter the load you will find bluedot loud and flashy. As for SAAMI specs I would not go any higher than 10.2grains of bluedot. That should net you about 1150 to 1200fps.

As others have mentioned AA#9 for 10MM is an awesome powder and I have stayed within SAAMI specs, I don't believe in beating up my firearms :) and have achieved greater velocity without the flash.

HS-6 and Alliant 2400 are great powders for 180gr 10MM also. A rising star is CFE Pistol if you can find it. I love trying new powders mainly for testing for my website, which I will be putting up a dedicated 10MM page here soon with all loads I have chronographed and developed with the different pistols. With CFE Pistol I was able to duplicate the Corbon 135grain load staying way under the max advertised load.

Wow thank you very much. It is my way of giving back. For those wondering I don't have any advertisements just one way of letting my readers know all the data is unbiased reviews. I belong to a private club/range and many of the members know of my website I often get asked to review their firearms which makes it easy and fun to keep good data on the site.

Though I am looking for a few authors to help keep the site populated with good fresh content.

I hope to have the 10MM data/page up soon.

Thanks again.

@41 mag..Thanks..I do have AA#5 & AA#7 so what's your preference with those powders and 155gr plated RNFP by Bullet Works..aka..A&B Pawn shop..lol..

@Rovlverguy...Also thanks!! I am just looking for some personal experience with different loads as its hard to find True 10mm data with these economical plated bullets. Can't wait to see your page dedicated to the 10mm.. They tried to kill it but it hung around in the shadows and now it's day is coming..My favorite caliber..Well, in Glock anyway..It does EVERYTHING I want it to do. From CCW, Range Practice, and hiking on the trail(with true stopping power)...I think it's the perfect round and being in a semi fits the bill for me..YMMV..

To be honest I have never run any of the plated bullets through my 10mm, unless you consider the Gold Dot. Most of the 155's I was shooting were the Nosler JHP's which shot very well. I was running those at some top end velocities however.

I did pull up the Western Powders (Accurate) load data, and they list the following,

Accurate Powder/
155 (P) RAIN FP Start- 8.9 1,151 Max- 9.9 1,309 34,300 OAL- 1.260"

That is for the Rainier plated bullet. For it, other brands I cannot give any indication on how well they may or may not do. I do know that most caution against running them over around 1100-1200fps due to the thin plating getting ruptured.

Some have mentioned in the past that #5 is very similar to Unique in performance, and I have found this to be somewhat true with my revolvers and the cast bullet loads I have been shooting over the past couple of years. Also like I mentioned above it doesn't show much of a flash even in low light, more of a dull orange glow if anything.

With my 10mm I decided when I purchased it that I wasn't going to run it at .40 velocities, when it was designed to run at more. Mine is the IAI Javelina with the 7" barrel and it likes those upper end loads a lot. I have used the 180gr GD over AA #9 almost exclusively since about the second year after they hit the market. I found that I was getting excellent velocity and accuracy out of them and they knock the bajeebers out of feral hogs.

Have not tried AA#9. I do know however that SwampFox (RIP) and several other commercial reloaders favor LS in their high end offerings. I have found it to be much cleaner than most other powders and it has become my favorite all-around.

Really? Better than AA#9? I don't know if I have any Longshot but I may have to find some.

Looking at my notes, I appear to have settled on 10.2 grns of blue dot with 180 grn FMJ's and cci300 primers. Load to 1.250, crimp at .4227.

Looking back over my loading, I have not shot anything in blue dot other than that load since 2005 so it must have been pretty good. I just have noted to repeat and it worked well.

@ex...Well, I found Longshot and have 8 pounds in route so since you says it's the best I would love some load data..I have 155gr RNFP and 1000 RMR Heavy Plated 180gr RNFP..What loads do you have using longshot for these bullets? I do like the pressure readings for the velocity you get with this powder.
