Picked up a Springfield Armory - Armory Kote TRP 1911 today - Normally $1200, but the store offered a $200 discount. Apparently, his two TRP models (stainless and Armory Coat) has been there since Feb, so he decided to discoun t them and sell 'em to the holioday croud (the store was packed today). For $1000, it was an awesome deal.

Shot 165 rounds thru it today - fed every one of them. Love the gun :)

Nice gun.

A grand is a lot to spend on a 1911.

What made you pick that over the other high end guns out there?

Well, I planned to spend that on a 1911. I had decided it would probably come bwteen the new Sig Revolution 1911 and the S&W 1911 Dk - both are between $899-$950, depending on where ya find it. Unfortunately, both had 1 thing I would have to alter - the Sig has no magwell and the S&W has black sights (plus, the S&W doesn't have a match barrel). I really like the TRP Operator w/ the rail, but that was more than I could afford.

I just happened to go to my local shop today, and saw the stainless TRP for a $200 discount, and the Armory Coat model for $125 less. I left to think about it, and decided to go back. I would have gotten the stainless, but it was kinda marked up. The owner said the guns had been there since Feb, and he had decided to discount anything over 6 mo old.

The Armory Coat 1911 had no marks on it at all, and I heard that the finish was more scratch resistant. Anyway, I got the guy to give me the same $200 off as the stainless model, and I couldn't pass it up.

I've been wanting another 1911 for a while, and I prev have had 2 Springfields. So, I figured I'd have no problems. Worked great at the range too.
