The Jerrett rifle is my idea of an evil "Black Gun."
Might was well neck down 280AI case. I never did try 6 Cheetah but I've shot the 22 Cheetah and the 6x284. Lot of fun

Good suggestion, I'll do if if I need new brass. Back in the '90's when I had the rifle made "store bought" .280AI brass wasn't available so I used .270 and .25/06 cases. All of the CHeetah cartridges have worked great for me, including a ..22 made by Shilen and also a .6.5 CHeetah. Good stuff.Might was well neck down 280AI case. I started out with Rem BR cases too, as that's what the .22 CHeetah was designed around but ignition with the small primer was iffy with ball powders I tried, and in cold weather. So switched to using .243 brass, which works fine and a lot easier to neck down to .22. Still have a big batch of the original Rem. BR brass and hear 6.5 CH shooters are having similar ignition problems small primer Lapua 6.5 CH brass. I've tried most of the CHeetah series calibers and much impressed with performance of all. Attached is .22 CHeetah built by Shilen long time ago, with Shilen stainless single shot action. It's a shooter..I used Rem BR cases. I shot HBR with 30x44 and 30x47 and that was before 30 BR. I have 280AI Spec and 280AI Wildcat and I necked that up to 30cal. I don't do as much, mostly stay with the AI. Well good luck
As I posted over in the Reloading Forum, I got my Annealeez yesterday and ran my first fire-formed .243 AI cases through it today. Tomorrow, full-length sizing, trim to consistent length, and load a set of test rounds to find max load with a couple of different bullets. Maybe even time to get to the range, if there isn't a match on ...
No worries. The .243 AI is my first wildcat ... probably won't be my last.I'll apology, shouldn't be using your post to post about other wildcats. I hope you post your results.
I'm too new to the game to know the difference between the 243AI and 6mm Competition Match. But I'll be trying some loads with H4831SC when I find some. I am just starting with what I had on hand: H414 and Varget. I am interested in finding a slower powder that works well, though.Does anybody know what's the difference between the .243AI and the 6mm Competition Match?
My understanding is that they're similar, and the 6mm Comp Match was designed to boost performance, while using slower powders like H4831 and H1000 IOT extend barrel life. IF that's true, wouldn't the slower powders also work for the .243AI??
I'm headed a slightly different route by going with a 6mm SLR IOT duplicate 6mm Creedmoor velocities with H4831SC.
.243 with shoulder moved forward and sharper angle. Same body taper. Good cartridge but not a world beater, had its 15 minutes of fame.Does anybody know what's the difference between the .243AI and the 6mm Competition Match?

Isn't 240 Hawk a 280 AI necked down to 6mm. I have a 240 wby that compairs to the 6x284. They do make a mess of things.Might was well neck down 280AI case. I never did try 6 Cheetah but I've shot the 22 Cheetah and the 6x284. Lot of fun
