"Record-Setting Chambering, Load, and Hardware
Sam was shooting a 6mm Dasher with 32.0 grains of Norma 203B powder, Berger 105gr VLD bullets (unpointed), CCI 450 primers and Lapua brass, neck turned to 0.266″ for a 0.268″-necked chamber. Regarding the choice of powder, Sam says Reloder 15 gives the same accuracy and speed as 203B but he “just happed to have 8 pounds of [203B] and decided to use it in this rifle.” Interestingly, Sam was jumping his 105s about forty thousandths. That’s right, .040″ OFF the lands. The record gun has a BAT MB action, Shehane Tracker stock, and Krieger 29″, .237″ bore, 1:8″ twist HV barrel."

Outstanding!

Good lord. I have a hard time doing that at 100.

I wonder if that guy ever felt the need to lie about his groups...

Eh, there's a couple dozen guys on this board who can shoot better. Or so they claim...
Yeah, 60yds in .686"...I can do that off-hand...with an AK...wait did I miss a digit again? :uhoh:

Obviously this is excellent shooting but I really don't have much interest in Benchrest shooting other than to see what the mechanical limit of a system is. What I'd really like is to see him shoot a 20-shot group on that target followed by a another 20-shot group on a 600 yard F-Class target following F-TR rules i.e. prone, front bipod, rear bag, no mechanical elevation/windage adjustment front or rear etc. That way I'd get a better idea of how much accuracy you can expect to give up between the two disciplines. This would be helpful.

:)

Waiting for the black rifle guys to jump in and state how it is totally meaningless as it is "only a 5 shot group".

IMO WOW!!!!

And I am working just trying to keep all shots within 12 inches at 600 yards.

Less than 3/4 of an inch at 600 yards.

Incredible.

I got a 3" group at 100 yards with my new rifle and Aimpoint with 4 MOA dot. I was happy to get that.

.686" at 600...not sure it's possible.

Thats some good shooting.

I'm sure someone will be along here soon to say Sam Hall would have shot better if he was using a hammer forged barrel. The sounds of crickets from the proponents of hammer forging barrels.

my late brother would say his rifle could shoot into one hole at 300yds, the trouble was he only fired one shot. i don,t care who you are, thats great shooting. eastbank.
