just picked up a new in the box s&w model 5906. i got it from cdnn for$399.99 it must of been a special order because its not a tsw series. anyone know what the 5906 usually goes for i called s&w customer service up with the serial number they said it left the factory in june of 2005. ps:anyone know what kind of carry ammo to go with the local gun store has federal personal defence 124 grain. i would appreciate anyones input thank you.

Bought one several months ago... love it! Have put thru about 1000+ rnds ZERO problems... shoot Winchester Whites (WMT $19/100) for target... no FTFs, FTEs, jam-ups, NOTHING. For HP, use either HORNADAY TAPS or SPEER GOLD.
When you field-strip/clean this baby, you really get a chance to see the quality/workmanship of this S&W!! Very well made... only negative (not for me) is that it's an ALL-METAL gun, and for some, it's heavy... that's why they went to the 5903 (steel slide, ALUMINUM frame)... much lighter!
LE friends that own 'em, say they last forever and are very reliable, accurate shoots... AMEN!

thanks for getting back to me yeah i love this gun its the last steel gun of the third generation family and im proud to own it. they also have 4006s left with night sights very good to excellent condition. my 5906 was new though check em out at cdnn.com i dont know how to make a link talk to you later.ps: oh yes it is NEW IN THE BOX.

Familiar with CDNN... that's where I got mine.
S&W has a great, full life-time warranty on its guns... BUT it's for the ORIGINAL owner only... which simply means your NIB 5906 is covered but any of the LE 'turn-ins' are USED and are NOT under full warranty. Just something to consider.

re: gun warranty

gzoh i called smith & wesson customer service up they told me it left the factory june of 2005. it went to a big distrubtor in purterico. foregive me if im misspelling that. any way it was suppose to go to a police department but they cancelled the order. they went to the 5903 and i asked them so where does that leave me and they said since it hasnt been back to the factory or registered the warranty by anyone else im allset.
