I am not a big gun guy! I mean I love them and shoot them ok but my Knowledge is a bit lower than par when it comes to smoke polls! Here is my ? I own a TC encore with a 30-06 barrel on it! Love the thing great hunter but where I hunt most the season I cant use a center fire rifle which sucks as I love to reach out and touch them just as much as I like to get close and put arrows thru them:evil:. I got a old CVA Black powder but Its a short range BP trad gun and I am lookin to own a 150-200 yard modern rifle. soooo should I just get a new barrel for my beloved ENCORE and get new glass for the barrel as well or should I get a new rifle all togather. Advice is awesome hook me up:D

I think you said you want a muzzleloader capable of accurate 200 yard shooting. Presumably deer/black bear, or elk/moose also?

I don't know how good a shot you are at 200 yards, so I'll make some more assumptions: 4-9x40 scoped, and you can shoot 4" groups at 200 yards with the 30.06.

If all the above is true, you need a .50 cal or larger (.54 or larger for elk/moose) fast twist (1:20) barrel 28" or longer. I have no idea if such a barrel is available for the Encore. If not, you need to get a new gun.

Yea I can get 4 inch groups on a good day :D 200 is my limit though as I dont have the time to wrok on anything past that. I basically want a ,modern ML that acts like a center fire rifle.

just a deer and hog hunter! Not planning on shooting a ML past 150 but it would be nice to know The rifle can!

The Bergara replacement barrels are the best deal going for turning an Encore into a muzzle loader. Plus it's longer in length. It's drilled & tapped for sights which aren't included though.
Save money with the Bergara barrel to buy the specialized muzzle loading tools, accessories, stock adaptor etc... needed to accomodate the Encore muzzle loading system.
Or else it's simply more cost efficient to buy a TC Omega for $300 or a TC Triumph.

There's a Bergara barrel video too. Make sure to ask the seller what else is needed to install the barrel and to get it shooting.

This outfit has many of the related muzzle loading items like a ML stock adaptor screw, breech plug removal tool, etc...

Cabela's charges $299 for a blued barrel without the forend with free shipping until 12/2.
Cain's charges $315 for a camo 209 X .50 barrel.

Cain's and Mid South has the Omega for ~$300.

It all boils down to how much you like how the Encore handles.
You may need a special muzzle loader fore end or adaptor to hold the ramrod with the Encore. But the Omega is all set up to shoot except for the scope mount. The Omega doesn't have the QLA barrel, but the break action Triumph does and also has the easy twist breechplug. The Triump is probably the most accurate out of the box with the least amount of fuss, but it doesn't have open sights. Mid South offers a fairly good deal on it at $377. :)

get a new barrel for the encore cookie, you'll have little problem knockin em down at 150 to 200 yards. i wouldnt try it on elk at that range but that doesnt mean it wouldnt do the job if everything was perfect.
