Howdy folks, just joined the forum, I usually haunt Glocktalk, S&W forum, KTOG, Sigforum, etc.

I figured I'd give a quick report on my newest acquisition, a new blue Bersa Thunder 45 Ultra-Compact. I paid $299 at my favorite local dealer. It's a double stack, DA/SA, 45acp, 7+1, 27oz alloy frame pistol. It fits a p239 holster, loosely.

I took it shooting last week, ran 125rds of assorted FMJ thru it, with no malfunctions. The pistol was accurate enough to knock over 8" steel plates at 15yds, and was very comfortable to shoot. The SA trigger is somewhat gritty, but it is improving with use. This pistol appears rugged and well made.

I like it!

This is pretty much typical of the Bersa guns. A good value line for getting what you pay for.
However the real measure will come after 1000 more rounds... so let us know how it's holding up then and how it's feeding the JHP rounds too.

Congrats on your purchase.

I have been eyeing the Bersa .45 for quite a while.

Your report puts me one step closer to the purchase.;)

:D George,as ive said before youre a crazy nut!
These do look irresistable, but ive just got to get a patriot and see for myself.20 ounces empty-6 round mag and small.Probably kicks like a mule.I wish id see one of these Bersas so i could hold it in my hand, but nobody ever seems to stock em.

J.R. Bob Dobbs, Welcome to the forums. I have been in love with the Bersa line ever since I purchased the old style Thunder 9. Now I own it, 2 of the 380's, and just sold a mod.23 .22. PLEASE keep us informed about the 45 as I am looking very stongly at accuireing one for my collection.

Forget the Patriot. Check out a new (they seem to be making them good now) Taurus PT145 Millenium: 22 oz empty with mag, 10+1 capacity, much better trigger than the Patriot. Basically the same size as the Kahr P40 only thicker because its 45ACP. True double action meaning you can get a second hit on a hard primer by simply pulling the trigger -- Glocks and Kahrs can't do this.

Mine shoots great, cost $310 (I paid a bit extra for the stainless slide), the Patriots I saw were asking $265.
