We it was delivered today the lock company that I had the safe installed by had to hire a flat bed tow truck to haul it to my house. I now want to find some LED strip lighting to light up the safe when I open the doors. The fit and finish of the safe is great. I was worried that I would be disappointed but I am very happy with it. The one thing I wish it had was a extra handle to grab onto because these doors are massive and I am a little worried about using the bolt locking handle to open the doors but they swing with very little effort.

Looks nice. Is that safe fire lined or is it just a plate safe?

As far as the pull handles go, you could add those yourself, and it's not a bad idea. Heavy doors will cause opening handle problems over time if you're using the opening handle as a pull handle. Most of them are simply two bolts. Drill holes, tap them, and install the handles.

By the way....what a bunch of wusses moving that thing. Four of them? Me and my delivery manager (300 pounds between the two of us) would have brought that in ourselves. ;)

THey forgot that the safe was bolted to the pallet

For about and hour they were try to move the safe when one of them asked "could it be bolted to the pallet" and sure enough they opened it and took out the bolts. It started to move then!!!

American security has an LED motion sensored light system that you might consider. They are an option in the new 2011 BF series gun safes. Maybe a local safe dealer might have them on display for you to see first.

They FORGOT to unbolt it from the pallet??
Anyway, that's a nice large safe you got yourself.
Shame it has to live in the garage.

Wow, nice safe. Brown was one I looked at but ultimately decided I didn't want something that heavy on my floors (if my next house has a slab foundation I may revisit).

Hows the overall fit and finish?

excellent fit and finish

The paint and body work are great The doors move very easy since they ride on ballbearings. I upgraded the locks to class 1 and added the upper and lower locking bolts this alone was $900 and $300 for the locks.

Nice, I'm assuming that's their commercial line?

In all fairness, it has been several years since I saw the Brown that I had issues with. They may have very well corrected the problem. However, it also appears that you have a texturized commercial finish that will hide a lot. The safe I saw was a high gloss unit set up as a residential jewelry safe.

I think this is the one with the 5 gauge upgrade. ;)

I do like the dual lock set up on the double doors. There were only a few manufacturers that used a similar design. Although the safe is most secure with both doors closed, the dual doors with the divided interior technically allow you to treat it as two safes. You may have one side as a "community" side, and save the other for your personal access.

It's just a joke regarding the gun safe battles of "security" with steel thicknesses measured in gauge.
Not sure if the implication was I was asking a stupid question ... their commercial vs. resi offerings only differ cosmetically as far as I know, I'm assuming that is their commercial safe paint job. That is what I was asking.

Not at all. More or less a jab at every gun safe manufacturer out there that adverstises their safes as being able to do what this safe actually does.
