New Bugarian Makarov

I picked up a new "surplus" Bulgarian Mak yesterday. It appears to have never been issued. I need to clean off all the cosmoline and shoot it. These guns have had great reports of reliability. I will post an account after I get out to shoot it.
Meanwhile, you can check out this thread on the whole purchase. Mak Purchase

a little high.....

glad to know Impact is in Utah--that way there isnt much chance of me stumbling in--I'm in Texas.
You will love your Mak. Got my first Bulgarian last month at a gun show in Austin for $169 which I felt was a little high, but wanted it bad enough. Picked up a box of Wolf for $6 on the way out. The gun still had a little cosmo inside, but cleaned up easily. Shot it for the first time yesterday. At 10 yds shot about 6" above point of aim, but a tight group (~3") from a rest. Fed and extracted perfectly.
Enjoy the well designed, well made piece and put the purchase price/experience in the past.

$169 is about what you'd end up paying though if you ordered one from SOG. They are $129 + shipping and then there's the dealer transfer fee. I know a guy who's an FFL and doesn't charge me fortunately.

Best shootin inexpensive gun I ever bought.
Actually one of the best guns I've ever bought.

Well done, you'll love it. The only mod I suggest for Makarovs is replacing the standard grips with a set of Pearce Grips. They make the gun much more comfortable to shoot.

picked up the Fobus Holster when I bought the gun and I ordered the Pearce Grips and 19lb spring today via express mail. I hope to get to shoot it this weekend if the weather clears up.
