New Bullpup AK stock coming out

Center Balance Rifle Platform Systems, producer of, among other things, a bullpup SKS stock, is coming out with a similar unit for AK-pattern rifles. Say what you will about mall-ninjas fangasming or whatnot, this is pretty cool.

It looks like the quality has come-up since the earlier batches (referring to a practical review on some milsurp rifle forum). Firing demo as well. So, I guess the question at hand is which is uglier, this or the Century?

Also, I just thought of something, this would probably be an ideal transplant for a Saiga, and I bet the stock would work for .223 Kalashnaclones too.

And one last thing, they have a stock like this planned for the Saiga-12.

Eh, as much as I like bullpups, conversion kits seem to come standard with a good bit of suckage. No experience with these, but I'd take a look at one in person before buying.

WARNING WARNING

A member of SKSboards.com bought an SKS stock from these guys. We found out some interesting things about them. Namely, sharp edges (possibly cut yourself on your gun), bulky, poor quality (no injection molding here, that's all multiple pieces screwed together).

@Hammerhead, I went through the 7 pages and found little strongly negative from those who claimed to have the stock in possession. Though, yes, the review I mention in my OP did show a rather disappointing level of finish.

@naolith, yeah, that does look incredibly dumb. Thank goodness that's only an option.

I like bullpups but that thing is ghastly. The back half particularly looks really bad IMO. All the other mags (or clips as the manufacture calls them on their website) hanging off it is also a bit silly.

I LOVED the Nagant stock until i saw how it was operated, Seriously what are they thinking....
But i do like the white and black looks of the stocks, Ill be keeping an eye out for them as i swear i cant find the right project gun.

CBRGator you left out the holosight or reflex sight.

A "trigger-activated laser"? What, does it have a complicated hang-fire system to allow you a second or so to get the laser on target before it fires, or off target if you decide not to at the last second?


I like the white, color it whatever you want, if I ever got one of these I would leave it stormtrooper white. And probably do some white Duracoating to a couple parts of the rifle itself to add to the effect. It would be sweet.

Like ANY law enforcement agency is going to be converting AK's into bullpups using someone's backyard project, DIY conversion kit. Read the "Military Agencies, Special Ops" section of the website. ROFLMAO! This guy has been watching too many James Bond movies. He needs to change his company motto to "For mall ninjas, by mall ninjas." When someone who doesn't even know the difference between a magazine and a clip starts spouting off about "civilan" and "military only" models, covert ops and cladestine missions, my BS meter just goes off the chart.

Yes, that's why the SCAR project was started with easy to swap in short barrels and folding buttstocks.

The Russian designs are a wire anyway, lengthening the wire couldn't change them that much so long as you can keep the tension similar.

Don't know about the RFB (but have high hopes), but my SRS trigger is outstanding (fully adjustable, no creep, breaks cleanly at 1lb). Additionally, I imagine the Barrett
M-99/M-95 is just as good.

Nalioth - good grief is right! Lookit, you've got a bullpup SBR with a bipod in the only place you could possible put your support hand - do you realize how incredibly easy and tempting it would be to put your off hand around the front, right in front of the muzzle - that thing is crazy dangerous to noobs and old hats alike. That thing would be *perfect* for a 16" bbl (sans some of the doodads), for giving you the best balance of handling, ballistic performance and short overall length - but some nincompoop goes to the trouble of putting what looks to be a 12" bbl or so on it, in order to try to get his hand blown off.

A note on what they make they're stocks out of. It's called/from Acetron. Acetron has been described as "Only for limited use in sunlight". It's all in the new thread I linked.

So, chances are this stuff isn't the sturdiest material to make stocks out of in the first place.

The only thing it has going for it can use the stock sights, and you don't have to have the massive century style front sight...

And I was a little excited when I saw the one for the Mosin... then I watched the video... It might be kinda cool if you didn't have move that giant dustcover on top each time you cycle the bolt...
