I have just bought a used Winchester 94 AE in 356 Win. Upon inspection ( i bought this rifle unseen from a gunshop) I found a couple of cracks in the buttstock. One diagonally across the tang area, and on one of the "ears" at the front of the stock. The previous owner have tried to glue up the cracks unsuccsessfully. The gunshop is willing to buy a new stock.

So this is the question: does a butt stock for the Winchester 94 (non big bore) fit the big bore Winchester?

Any input appreciated.

I believe any post 64 stock would fit as the main difference is the thicker "walls" at the rear of the receiver. However, if your model has the monte carlo comb and you want one just like it, you would need to find that exact design buttstock which was only on the early Big Bores.

I also found that MidWest Gun Works has stocks available that specifically note it is for the Angle Eject model
Winchester Model 94 Stocks (midwestgunworks.com).

Ok. Thats good to know! I do not have the monte carlo stock, just the regular straight grip, straight combe. Brownells has some oem stocks, but I have read that these require quite a bit of fitting, and that the result is never as good as an older original stock. Maybe i have to get my toola out and try to make my own.
