Just got my C&R license yesterday. Already have a Yugo SKS (which prompted me to get the C&R), and a bunch of newer guns. I am hooked on the Yugo and have not touched any of my other guns since. Wanted some input on some "must have's" for my collection. I live in the Republik of California, so I understand I am facing some limitations.

There is no limit! You can pretty much start anywhere. After all, it's never going to end so you can start with anything. Just go to the milsurp sights and start with one of them --- Mosins (38, 44, 91), Schmidt-Rubin, all different types of Mausers, all the other SKSs beside the one you have. A whole bunch. It never ends.

The K31's are a steal right now, and will probably dry up soon, therefore, get one first. Also, Swedish Mausers are less common and going up quickly. Also should be high on the list.
Mausers are a disease, (and I haven't caught it yet, but I keep having symptoms) that will force you to buy 24/47, 48, 98, etc. There's no end and no known cure. Mosin's are cheap and will probably still be functional at the end of days.
Oh, on the handgun front, definitely get a CZ-52. It should last as long as your Mosins (that you will eventually have) and is an incredibly fun cartridge.
Actually, just give up and buy one of everything right now! Everyone needs some credit card debt.
