What are the must haves right now and what are the best deals? I already know I am getting a SKS of some sort, probably a Yugo version. What about pistols? What are some C&R pistols that are worth getting?

Rifle, No. 4 Mk.1* calibre .303

Rifle, No.1 Mk. lll calibre .303

Rifle, No. 1, MKlll, calibre 7.62X51 Nato (Ishapore)

CZ-52 7.62X25

M-98K 8MM Mauser

M-44 Mosin-Nagant 7.65X54R ( 1 Russian, 1 Polish, 1 Finnish)

M-96 Swede 6.5X55

E. German Makarov pistol

CZ-52 pistol

Schmidt-Rubin K31 rifle

Finnish Mosin-Nagant M39 rifle

SMLE

Enfield #4MkII

FN-49

Any Swedish Mauser

I would start out with an unissued Yugo SKS, then a shooter's grade of the same.

InterOrdnance has em. I bought mine from AIM, but it came from IO.

Have fun spending and shooting.

Thisaway,

I am still waiting also. I sent everything in the begining of December and still have nothing to show for it.

I called and was assured all was as it should be and they were just waiting on the background checks. Apparently I must have a mass murderer flag.

:(

Hey Cratz2 my friend,

As another lover of the No.4 Mk1*, I must say that you're missing out if you don't also get the No. 4 Mk2, and a few No. 1 Mkllls into the collection. And even a (GASP) Ishapore 7.62X51.

OOPS!! I posted this before looking at your photo link!!!!

Every thing you can afford! As soon as you can afford it!

I suspect that aside from the Russian stuff still to come, that MOST of the world has now been picked over. Some dealers are even running out of the Turk Mausers now. And the last Jungle Carbines existing have come out of Malaysia, of all places (and they are in NRA Not-Very-Good condition).
Some of the guns that were dirt cheap 6 months to a year ago are already doubling in price. (check the prices on those $50 Russian Nagants now.)
Add in the fact that most of the military weapons coming up on 50 years in the near future only were made in select-fire versions. Any semi-auto modifications will fall under the "no longer in original military configuration" catch and they will never be C&R (except as the auto version, which can't be imported).
The future will see only handguns becoming C&R's.

So get out there and BUY!!

thisaway,
I sent in all my stuff about 3-4 weeks ago. I was shocked when I went to the mail today and got it. They said it would take 6 weeks.

Yugo SKS, check.
CZ-52, chech.
Makarov, check.
Enfield rifle, maybe.
Mosin Nagant M-44, check.

How about those Star Super B pistol? I like pistols and I like 9mm.

Star Super B's are not C&R,just the Star B's and they are becoming more scarce.(questionable Nazi stampings are currently making the circuit)
Other good pistols to collect are
Systema Colt 45's
CZ 50's in .32auto
Beretta M1934-35 380/.32
Nagant Revolvers in 7.62x38R

Yugo SKS
CZ52
Sistema Colt 1927 (1911A1)
Any Mauser

Basically: Anything thats old and still goes bang.

Kharn

Regarding the Ishapore Enfields only the 2A is classed as C&R, the 2A1 is not. IIRC the 2A was only made in 1964 and they're pretty scarce. The difference is in the rear sight but they're also marked on the right side of the buttstock socket. The modified Ishy's you'll see occasionally as "Jungle Carbines" and "Tanker Enfields" are not C&R. I have a Gibbs #7 JC and the only objection I have to it is it was made from a 2A. Nice rifle though.

A word of warning about Mosin-Nagants: they multiply worse than rabbits.:what:

OOPS!! I posted this before looking at your photo link!!!!

Oh... come on now, my collection isn't all that big. I still don't have any No 1s at all unless you count the 2A1 as a No 1. I'm looking for an exceptional No 1 Mk III. The few that have really caught my eye aren't for sale. ;)
